Making Music for Film and Animation

Online Course Design & Delivery | 100+ Students

The Challenge: Teaching practical film scoring skills in a fully online environment to a large, diverse cohort.

My Approach:

  • Designed interactive HTML modules for self-paced scoring exercises (orchestration, spotting, character analysis)

  • Facilitated weekly breakout rooms for collaborative film analysis and scoring discussions

  • Integrated DAW-based assignments with peer review sessions

  • Created gamified learning experiences that bridge theory and practice

Key Innovations:

  • Interactive Scoring Module: Students practice real-time orchestration decisions with instant documentation generation

  • Hybrid Synchronous/Asynchronous Model: Live discussions + self-paced technical work

  • Scalable Feedback System: Peer presentations of DAW projects with structured critique

Technical Stack: HTML/CSS/JavaScript, Canvas LMS, Zoom breakouts, Logic Pro/Ableton Live

Impact: Students develop both creative decision-making skills and technical proficiency while building a portfolio of original scoring work.
